Created by artisans of interiors, food and drink, 601 Queen’s Rd has now opened its doors in the heart of Wimbledon.

Adjacent to the tube and rail station, and within walking distance of the iconic Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Club, 601 Queen’s Rd sits in the heart of the quintessential London village. The location offers an all-day drinking and dining experience, serving exquisite coffees to handcrafted cocktails and seasonal, locally sourced dishes from breakfast to pudding.

Inspired by Scandinavian design, 601 Queen’s Rd is filled with bespoke handmade pieces, bright open spaces and a unique and magnificent roof terrace, and is a home from home in the charming Wimbledon.

The Bar

As a bar first and foremost, at the heart of 601 Queen’s Rd is the circular bar populated with a carefully curated selection of wines, from Italian proseccos like the Ca’ Morlin DOCG and crisp whites such as Picpoul de Pinet, Jadix 2016 to deep reds like the Malbec, La Florencia 2016. The bar also features a wide range of craft, draft and bottled beers including Five Points Pale Ale as well as homemade lemonades in many flavours from rhubarb and apple to pink grapefruit and ginger, and a collection of cleverly concocted, seasonal long and short serves including the Matcha Martini and Lychee Colada.

The Food

The menu which runs throughout the collection of independent neighbourhood bars, celebrates seasonal and locally sourced produce using artisanal ingredients and produce from its own kitchen gardens. Sustainability is at the heart of the menu, using British and local producers to create sumptuous dishes. Scratch-cooked on site, dishes vary from slow-cooked Sunday Roasts to Rotisserie Pineapple and Chilli Puddings, providing something for everyone to enjoy throughout the whole day.

Mel Marriott, Managing Director, Darwin & Wallace, comments: “We are delighted to have opened in the bustling heart of Wimbledon, a quintessential London village. The rarity of the space is incredibly special, the terrace which wraps around the space opens into the evening all year round. The bar is light with signature features. We have worked with our talented artisans and makers to bring 601 Queen’s Rd to life with bespoke furniture, hand-picked artwork, ceramic tiles, unique lighting, and so much more, forming its own unique version of the Darwin & Wallace address.”

The Decor

Taking inspiration from elements of Scandinavian design, 601 Queen’s Rd is ambient and intimate whilst being flooded with natural light from the glass dome. The effortless balance of beauty and simplicity is weaved through every corner. Offering a day to night space, guests can dine alfresco on the roof terrace, grab drinks at the central bar or snuggle up in smaller, warmer spaces filled with bespoke furniture and a cosy fireplace, perfect for nibbles and a nightcap.

The bold main entry makes an instant impact, with a nod to the horticultural cyanotypes that inspired the space. On sunnier days, the magnificent roof terrace and pergola provide a space to escape busy, city life. Decked with salvaged boardwalk timber and festooned green leaves, the natural influences wrap around the venue to create a seamless indoor to outdoor feel.

601 Queen’s Rd is now open from 9am to 11pm Monday to Wednesday, 9am to 12am, Thursday, 9am to 2am,Friday and Saturday and 9am to 10pm Sunday.
