We are pleased to share that Darwin & Wallace is expanding again. Set to open this winter, their seventh site will be homed in Dickens Yard Ealing. It will feature an all-day, casual drink and dining experience with a menu of carefully created drinks and cocktails, and seasonal, locally sourced and sustainable food for any time of the day.
As demonstrated over the past seven years, Darwin & Wallace have an exceptional eye for detail. Each location is individually designed with a contemporary style, reflecting the local area, the people that inhabit them with a goal of creating a home from home. Their Ealing address is sure to not disappoint.
Founder and Managing Director Mel Marriott comments, “We have long held the desire to be part of the “London village” that Ealing is. Finding this superbly located, stand-alone, building within the Dickens Yard development has given us the most amazing blank canvas on which to layer on our own interpretation of what a modern pub can be, unique to its location.”
Darwin & Wallace’s founder and managing director Mel Marriott has led the group for the past seven years, branching out across affluent London villages. She has recently been shortlisting for the Wireless Social Women’s Entrepreneur of the Year.
Founding Partner Martin Sherwood responds,“Darwin & Wallace’s recent openings have been spectacular, so we have very high hopes for the new Ealing branch – the business goes from strength to strength and it’s a privilege to be associated with this company”.
What to expect
Drawing inspiration from both local and global influences, the site’s design will be resonant of an urban, European loft apartment, featuring generous lounge seating, oak sharing tables and huge lamps. Dark wall finishes and poured concrete floors will contrast with lighter, warmer touches in the furnishings, creating a bold, modern space that feels like home. Outside, terraces will be filled with terracotta pots and delicate trees, making the perfect backdrop for relaxed eating and drinking.
The award-winning group are recognised for their design and architecture winning Restaurant and Bar Design Awards’ ‘Best Pub’ for No 1a Duke Street in 2016 and No 197 Chiswick Fire Station in 2017 and is shortlisted for the awards this year for No 29 Power Station West.
Darwin & Wallace works with hand-picked local suppliers to create real places with integrity, reflecting in both the design of the space and curation of the seasonal drinks and food menus, shared across the sister locations. The group achieved the coveted three-star award by the Sustainable Restaurant Association for their commitment to serving great quality food by celebrating local and seasonal food, sourcing better fish for a healthy ocean, reducing food wastage wherever possible as well as their commitment to residents and local charities.
