Football fan or not, nothing quite compares to watching your country play in the biggest football competition in the world.
As the World cup draws near, we are ready to join the nation for the most anticipated contest of the year. Whether this is in your local pub, restaurant or a city bar, the patriotic atmosphere during the world cup games is incomparable.
In the build-up to the kick-off, British Beer and Pub Association (BPPA) have predicted in that England fans will consume 14million extra pints during the world cup group stages alone! The increase forecasts suggest that the World Cup could boost the economy by £42m. Not only are Bars and Pubs predicted to benefit, restaurants can utilise the influx of supporters too.
During the group stages, the England squad are scheduled to play at kick-off times that work in the fans’ favour. The Three Lions will play the first two games during the evening. These will be post working hours – first against Tunisia at 19:00 on Monday 18th June. On Sunday 24th June, the squad take on Panama at 13:00. And finally, on Thursday 28th June at 19:00 England complete the round of group games by competing against Belgium, in what could prove to be the decisive game of the group.
These advantageous timings, paired with fewer fans attending the games in Russia, mean that bars and restaurants across London are preparing to host large numbers of fans.
Ready for kick-off, we’ve mapped out some of the Imbiba Leisure EIS Fund backed locations across London, where you can catch the games.
