To find out more about investing in the EIS, click on the headings below.
The Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) is a Government-backed scheme that provides attractive tax breaks for investors willing to put money into higher-risk businesses. The aim of the scheme is to direct much needed private investment towards new ventures.
The Enterprise Investment Scheme is just one way the Government is attempting to liven up the sluggish investment market. It's an ideal way for young businesses to raise much needed capital, and a great way for investors to invest in EIS investment.
It isn't often that a Government could ever be classed as generous, but the Enterprise Investment Scheme is one such occurrence. The EIS is a Government initiative to provide incentives to investors who buy shares in qualifying higher-risk companies. It's a part of a wider and long-running effort to stimulate investment for new or young businesses.
There are two principal types of EIS investment, a single company structure and EIS Funds which can be approved or unapproved.
The method for claiming EIS tax relief will differ depending on individual circumstances. Upon receipt of an EIS 3 certificate you can claim tax relief on your Self Assessment Tax Return for the tax year in which the shares were issued. |
